GINGER Automotive Ltd (CarMats.ie) recalls the MG S5 driver's floor mat

We are recalling the driver's side mat of the MG S5 rubber floor mat set, in cooperation with the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (CCPC).

Affected product

  • Product: MG S5 Rubber Floor Car Mat Set — driver's side mat
  • Brand: CarMats.ie (GINGER Automotive Ltd)
  • Model: MG S5 EV (2025–)
  • Pattern number: 6807
  • How to identify it: the mats are not individually marked, so the affected mat is identified by its purchase date (purchased before 29 April 2026) and its overall length of 55.51 cm. The revised driver's mat measures 51.61 cm and has been supplied since 29 April 2026.
  • Where and when sold: sold online at CarMats.ie and delivered to customers in the Republic of Ireland up to 29 April 2026.

Why is this product dangerous?

When not correctly secured, the mat can move out of position and become caught against the accelerator pedal. This can interfere with operation of the accelerator pedal and affect the driver's control of the vehicle, creating a risk of a collision.

What to do

Stop using the affected driver's mat immediately and remove it from your vehicle. You may continue to use the other mats in the set.

Your remedy

GINGER Automotive Ltd will provide a free replacement driver's mat of the revised design, at no cost to you. You do not need to return the affected mat. A full refund is available instead of a replacement if you prefer.
